Who is Sofie?

Sofie Martens is the founder of Landa Languages. She holds a master's degree in French & German language and literature from KU Leuven and afterwards completed a teacher training course in Diepenbeek.

“All the stages the trainee goes through, I have gone through myself. I provide useful language knowledge and stay focused on the goal, which is to do your job in another language without stress. I make every effort to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible. No lesson goes by without laughing!”

ALEXANDRA

Who is Alexandra?

Alexandra (or Alex) is an open-minded, energetic and empathetic person who loves languages, cultures, people, nature, and animals.

What is her mother tongue?

Alex' mother tongue is British English. She has an English mother and an Austrian father. She also speaks Dutch fluently.

What drives Alexandra to give language training?

“I like to help people achieve their goals and immerse myself in their world.”

“I am goal-oriented, enthusiastic, fun, experienced, flexible and committed to your goal - whatever that may be - and do my utmost to provide stimulating and effective sessions.”

CLAIRE

Who is Claire?

“I grew up in the French Alps before studying literature in England and Spain. It was there that I met my husband, whom I followed to Belgium 20 years ago.”

What is Claire's mother tongue?

Her mother tongue is French.

What drives Claire to give language training?

“I am passionate about the French language and communication and love to guide my students in their professional language training. Noticing the progress people make during their training gives me great satisfaction.”

“I am educational, patient and enthusiastic. I put myself at the service of my trainees with a personalized approach tailored to their personal goals. My knowledge of the business world, gained during my professional career, is a very useful advantage.”

TREES

Who is Trees?

Trees is the owner of the language agency Rentrée. She has more than 15 years of expertise in adult education and has worked as a professional language coach for several companies.

Her mother tongue is Dutch. Trees has a master's degree in French, Spanish and Dutch.

What drives Trees to give language training?

“In the first place seeing progress and self-confidence come about in my students. That especially during enjoyable lessons that create Aha-Erlebnis.”

What makes her such a good and cool language trainer?

“My approach is ‘building up in a fun - and not pedantic - way and above all: talking without stress’. I create a convivial atmosphere and stay in the participants' field of interest, so that taking lessons does not become a task.”

CHRIS

Who is Chris?

“I grew up in California in the US and moved to Belgium 10 years ago.  I think the best thing about living here is how quickly we can travel to the other parts of Europe and experience many languages and cultures. Even within Belgium, I am often amazed at the treasures I can find when I visit a town or village for the first time.”

What is his native language?

Chris' native language is American English.

What drives Chris to give language training?

“My top priority in teaching is to focus lessons on what the student needs for success. Typically, my students need to improve their spoken language, pronunciation and presentation skills. I take great satisfaction in helping students on their journey to gain confidence and expand their vocabulary, especially in relation to their professional interests.” 

What makes him such a good and cool language trainer?

“I always make it clear from the first lesson: this is not the boring and passive environment in which we learned languages in school. We are in a learning partnership! One-on-one lessons maximize student speaking time, and maximize learning opportunities. I think it is important to use material from the students' work and incorporate it into the lesson to make the sessions as relevant as possible.”  

PETER

Who is Peter?

“Peter is a multicultural and multilingual enthusiast. He grew up with a German father in Antwerp and then worked for more than 20 years in the insurance industry in the UK, France and Belgium. In the process, he is also the owner of Inspiration Factory (https://inspirationfactory.eu/). Peter is not only an expert in language training, but also in soft skills!” 

In which languages does Peter specialize?

Peter gives training in Dutch, French, English and German.

What drives Peter to give language training?

“Since 2011, my mission in life became clear: to support people in their growth process, by helping them acquire more efficient skills, taking them to the next level.”

What makes him such a good and cool language trainer?

“Every day is a new challenge and a new beginning. Every client (learner) is different, so it triggers me to find out how I can best support this person in his/her learning process. Making people grow, guiding them through the first steps on the ladder, no matter how small, that's what I'm here for.”

LEEN

Who is Leen?

“I graduated as a Sinologist from KU Leuven and then immediately started working in a company where English and Chinese were mainly spoken, the two languages I prefer to speak! As a child, I was fascinated by all things British and so I decided to take language courses at Oxford University for two summers. A few years later, I decided to put it to the test and obtained my C2 Certificate of Proficiency in English. A little inquisitive... maybe. Open to challenges and connection... definitely!”

“I specialize in Chinese and English and teach English at Landa Languages.”

"I believe that language is the key to understanding and collaborating between different cultures and people."

“I do my best to create a positive and stimulating learning environment where everyone is allowed to make mistakes and learn. With patience, enthusiasm and a practical approach, I make language training not only effective, but also fun and engaging!”




Landa attaches great importance to a good match between the student and the language coach. An online meeting takes place before the start of each course. Just as each student is unique, each trainer is also unique!
